Whether your family members are active people in the outdoors or just appreciate the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains, there is something for everyone in and around Valta, Colorado.
Whether you're skiing, drawing horses for a sleigh ride, creating art or reading a good book, there's something for everyone in your group. Whether you're snowshoeing, hiking, or hiking with your loved ones, even if skiing is not an option, there's always something to do in Vail, whether it's skiing, biking, hiking, horse riding - drawing, sledding, snowmobiling, skiing or snowboarding.

Some options include cycling on the Gore Range Trail or a leisurely hike to the top of Vail Mountain. You can also take a gondola ride or take a day trip to Leadville to climb the 1,000 foot peak of Gila National Forest. Visit the Colorado Ski Museum, located at the Vail Ski Museum and Ride on the west side of the mountain, just blocks from the ski area. This small museum helps you learn the history of skiing in Colorado from its beginnings to the present day through interactive exhibits and much more. If you are interested in how Vails became one of Colorado's most popular ski resorts and a major tourist destination, this small museum can help you.
Other attractions include the Vail Film Festival, which takes place in March and April, and a host of other events. If you're wondering what to do before you and your travel buddies head to the slopes, spend a day in neighboring Lionshead Village. Some experiences include meditation at the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, a visit to the Vail Farmers Market, a beer at the Vails Brewing Co. and a hike to Valtteri Mountain.
The Free Vail Recreation Path is located right in the middle of town and there are many additional trails in the Vails Valley that could be considered some of the best mountain bike trails in Colorado. The trail is about 2000 feet long and is located in Lionshead, which extends to the top of Mount Valtteri.
The gondolas here in Vail offer so much more while you're on the road to enjoy the world - first-class food and all the nightly mountain activities Vail has to offer.

If you want to explore more of Vails Valley, you'll have to be in the Beaver Creek area, the second largest ski resort in Colorado.
